Danish photojournalist Jakob Dall has spent the last few years documenting the effects of climate change in different countries in the world. In places as diverse as Ireland, Greenland, the Maldives and Mali.
Climate Change is a reality that the world has increasingly become aware about. However, the debate and news stories have had a tendency to focus only on ‘fact based’ numbers about CO2 emissions or more emotional stories about the changing living conditions for polar bears. The millions of people, who already today are experiencing the consequences of global heating, recieve very little media coverage. It certainly is a problem for these people in the affected areas that there isn’t sufficient understanding for how their living conditions are impacted by climate change.

The site’s beautifully made, but I also love how it puts the issues in a local perspective.
I think it will be important to give the big monster ‘Climate Change’ a local and more personal perspective in the future. I would have wished more multimedia with actual storytelling to get to know more about their situation, not only audio slideshows with singing kids. But it is a great first step in the right direction, that is for sure, and the images are compelling.
